February 15 Prompt: any, any, knots, written for The Scarlet Pimpernel.

“Odd’s life, tricky thing these weddings, I do hope you’re able to keep your troth tied better than that sorry thing about your neck,” Sir Percy Blakeney, Bart., was heard to say to Sir Andrew Ffoulkes on the day of his friend’s nuptials.

Some élite of fashionable society wondered if the man was voicing regrets about his own marriage in the only way possible for such a lazy, stupid fellow. But the lovely Lady Blakeney merely smiled at these murmured insinuations, and all agreed neither she nor her husband looked the worse when weaving through the other couples during the course of the minuet, or even sharing a pleasant tête-à-tête at its conclusion.
